Data Deletion

Last updated 19 September 2026

How to remove your data from Kitea — one channel or the whole account. Both routes are self-service or a single email, and neither requires talking to anyone first.

1. Disconnect a single channel

If you only want to remove one connected account — a Facebook Page, a Google property, or a CMS — you do not need to delete anything else.

  • Sign in to Kitea and open Channels.
  • Find the connection and choose Disconnect.

Kitea's access token for that account is destroyed on our side immediately, and revoked with the provider where the provider allows it (Google and Meta do). We stop reading from and publishing to that account at once. Content already published to your own Page or profile stays where it is — it belongs to you, and we do not remove it unless you ask.

2. Delete your Kitea account and all data

From Kitea. The account owner can sign in, open Settings → Data, and choose Delete account. You are offered two options:

  • Cancel my subscription — billing stops at the end of the paid period, your data is kept for 30 days after that so you can come back, then it is deleted automatically.
  • Delete everything now — confirmed by typing your business name. The subscription is cancelled at once and the account is deleted immediately.

By email. Or email support@kitea.ai from the address on your account with the subject Delete my account, including your business name so we can identify the right account. We confirm by reply within two business days and delete the account then.

Keep a copy first. Settings → Data also lets you download everything we hold for your account, as one file, before you delete it.

3. Removing data obtained from Meta

To remove only the information Kitea obtained through Facebook, you have two routes, and either is sufficient.

  • From Kitea: disconnect the channel as described in section 1.
  • From Facebook: go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites, select Kitea, and remove it. This revokes our access immediately.

Either action revokes our token and destroys it. Kitea reads your Page's own posts only to check the connection works, and keeps nothing it reads, so there is no other Facebook data to delete. Your writing-style profile is built from your website, not from Facebook.

4. What is deleted, and when

Immediately. Connected-account credentials and access tokens, on disconnection or cancellation. These are destroyed, not deactivated.

On a deletion request, immediately. Your account record, business and location details, keyword sets, writing-style profile and facts, drafts, scheduled content, reports, redirects, audit results for your site, the action log, and the sign-ins of everyone on the account, except someone who also belongs to another Kitea account.

When your subscription ends, 30 days later. The same data, deleted automatically. We email the account owner when the subscription ends and again a week before. Resubscribing before then keeps your data; connected accounts need reconnecting.

A subscription ends at the close of the period you have paid for — or, if a payment fails, after two weeks of retries, with a warning from us a week in and another two days before the end.

Free audits, run by anyone from our homepage, are deleted after 30 days, as are the email addresses given to receive their reports.

Not deleted. Content already published to your own website, Business Profile, or social accounts, and redirects already written to your site, remain yours and stay in place unless you remove them there. Your invoices are kept by our payment processor, Stripe, for tax and accounting, and are never used for any other purpose.

Backups. We keep daily backups for 30 days. Deleted data is gone from them within 30 days of leaving our live systems, and a backup is never used to restore an account whose owner asked for it to be deleted.
